This is the first time ever, that we can achieve to deliver vital information to almost every rural woman on this planet. No matter what language she speaks or if she can read or write. This is made possible by technology (see below) - and by your valuable contribution as a volunteer translator. With your help we can translate this information into languages they have never been translated before. And we can help rural women to live a healthier and happier life.
Yes. It is free, forever. Promise.
Yes, we offer a Certificate of Appreciation for your efforts. You can contact us through the translation platform (https://crowdin.com/mail/compose/mheyne) if you want one and we will send it to you by eMail as a PDF document. You should have translated a minimum of 500 words before applying for the Certificate, though.
Crowdin is the company that provides the translation platform. We, URIDU use the platform to enable collaborative translations. (Actually more than 16.000 companies use Crowdin, too). There are many translation projects on Crowdin, but there is only one by us, URIDU. You can, of course, find it here: https://crowdin.com/project/uridu/
Nothing! We all make mistakes! First of all, all translations will be corrected (if necessary) and approved by a proofreader. Plus everything that you translate can be edited or deleted by you. Don't be shy, you cannot do anything wrong.
At some point, your translation will be proofread by a proofreader. The proofreader will approve (and correct, if necessary) your translation. Now it is ready to be published on www.uridu.com. We will publish the translation as soon as the corresponding chapter has been translated completely.
Well, basically every native speaker can. Just send us a message and tell us why you would like to be a proofreader.
As a proofreader, you get a special interface that helps to to easily approve and/or correct the translations that have already been made.
We use to work with local partners that help us select, adapt and record the contents. They also help by distributing the URIDU Players to rural women in their corresponding country. If you know an organization in your country that could be interested in helping rural women, let us know. Thanks!
Anyone can, as long as it is being done in a non-commercial way. We want our contents to be used as much as possible. This is why our contents are licensed in a way that makes it possible to share them easily. More information is available here: http://www.uridu.com/about/
We will be adding new contents from time to time. You can think of URIDU as of Wikipedia to a certain extent. The content base will be growing and cover even more relevant aspects of the lives of rural women. Don't worry: you will be informed as soon as we add new texts.
